About Les Birdies

Les Birdies Golf Club, Inc. was founded in 1976 by a group of African American professional women who shared a passion for golf and a vision for change. At a time when access to the game—and the opportunities it creates—was limited for women of color, these founders came together to open doors, build community, and create pathways for future generations.
At its core, Les Birdies Golf Club exists to introduce African American women and girls to the game of golf while using the sport as a tool for personal growth, education, and community impact. We believe golf teaches more than technique—it builds confidence, discipline, resilience, and lifelong connections.
A Legacy of Service and Impact
Service has always been central to the Les Birdies mission. Over the decades, the club has built strong relationships with local schools and organizations throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, including Bond Hill Academy and South Avondale Middle School. Our members actively participate in tutoring programs, provide school uniforms, organize coat drives, and sponsor holiday celebrations for younger students.
Beyond the classroom, Les Birdies has been deeply involved in youth golf initiatives, clinics, and community programs, partnering with organizations such as the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Reaching Out for Kids, the Girl Scouts of America, and the Urban League of Cincinnati. Members regularly volunteer at local and regional golf tournaments, serving as ambassadors for the game and role models for young players.
