Les Birdies Scholarship

Investing in the Future Through Education.

In 1987, Les Birdies Golf Club, Inc. formally established the Les Birdies Scholarship Program, deepening the club’s commitment to educational opportunity. The program awards annual scholarships to deserving African American female high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement and an interest in sports.

To date, the club has awarded more than 40 scholarships, helping young women pursue higher education and move confidently toward their futures. These scholarships represent more than financial support—they reflect the belief that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to create lasting change.

Fejiro F.O (2023)

The Les Birdies scholarship has meant so much to me as I pursue my education. Being recognized for both my academic work and my commitment to golf gave me the confidence to keep pushing toward my goals. I am truly grateful for the opportunity and support it has provided.

Danielle Gentry (1998)

Being a Les Birdies scholarship recipient affirmed that I had a village of people who believed in me as I prepared to attend college. It was about so much more than financial assistance. It was a tangible reminder that I had limitless potential and could accomplish anything I put my mind to.

The encouragement and support from Les Birdies helped me achieve my goal of attending my dream college and laid the foundation for what became a debt-free college experience, which has continued to bless me even as an adult.

I will forever be grateful for the many female role models, mentors, leaders, and businesswomen within the Les Birdies community who continue to show me and so many people, especially women of color, what’s possible.

H. Harrigan, PhD (2014)

I would like to thank Les Birdies Golf Club, Inc. for awarding me a scholarship. Your financial support of my academic endeavors was meaningful: I used the scholarship money to purchase textbooks during my undergraduate studies. Additionally, receiving this award inspired me to continue my education, so I went on to earn a BS, MS, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
